No. The first conversation can happen over a call or video, and the site visit happens at your property. The studio visit is useful mainly when you want to handle material samples.
A floor plan if one exists, a rough budget range, and a sense of your timeline. None of it is required, but it makes the first conversation considerably more useful.
The first consultation and the accompanying estimate are free. Detailed measurement and drawing work begins once you decide to proceed, and the terms are set out before that point.
